Marine FCU was chartered in April of 1959. Our humble beginnings … a chicken-wired area in one of the warehouses aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Under the watchful eye of our volunteer Board of Directors, we have grown to be a large, full service institution dedicated to the financial success of our members and a proud civic partner in our community.Marine FCU is an organization owned by its members. Credit unions offer unique security to their membership. They have traditionally paid higher dividends on savings than the rates offered by commercial banks and other financial institutions. Also, credit unions usually charge lower interest rates on loans than other financial institutions.
You may belong to more than one credit union. Family and household membership is encouraged. A person eligible to belong may join Marine FCU by presenting his/her Social Security card (necessary for reporting to the IRS), a valid picture ID, and by purchasing at least one share for $5. At the time you join, you'll receive an account number which will be needed to conduct all your Marine FCU business. To join, click here and apply online or stop by any branch and we'll be happy to handle the rest.
Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person or entity wanting to open an account. This is designed to aid the government in their fight against the function of terrorism and money laundering activities.
When opening an account, Marine FCU requires your legal name, physical address, date of birth, along with your driver's license or other identifying documents. Marine FCU has the right to refuse membership if we cannot verify the true identity of a person or entity.
